May Wallpaper – Trying Something New

Posted on by Steve

Ok, May’s wallpaper is ready, but I’m trying something new and I need your opinion.

See, up till now I’ve been favoring only horizontal I images, however I get loads of requests every month to create wallpaper options for the vertical images too.

So, what the heck, I’m giving it a try. The last image below is a vertical image that you can try for your wallpaper if you like. It will have large black borders on the side since, you know, a vertical photo really won’t fit any other way one horizontal monitor.

The big question is, should I keep doing it or forget about the vertical photos? Comment below and let me know. Thanks!

Oh, and before you ask, no, I can’t move the calendar to the black area, sorry. Here’s the wallpaper:

Upper Falls

This is usually the first falls I photograph when I’m in the Old Man’s Cave area of Hocking Hills State Park. First, you walk across the bridge you see in the photo, then follow a little path down to the bottom. Now, the “normal” thing to do here is (more)

Snow Goose Taking Flight

captured this image one sunny January evening at Bosque Del Apache National Wildlife Refuge. The snow geese were there in force, and this little pond had a lot of activity going on. The birds were coming and going, trying to decide where to stay for the night and I was just … (more)

Hidden Hoodoos

We had just finished shooting some sunrise scenes at Bryce Canyon when my 9 year old son asked if we could hike down into the canyon and explore. Well, it didn’t take much arm twisting to convince me! As we rounded a corner on the way down, we saw… (more)

What’s different from the movies we get on DVD? Just please don’t make all your phots in that form. One out of three is a good ratio so everyone gets what they want. I prefer horizontal for my wallpaper, but the folks with phones will like the vertical. Thanks for lettings us see your world.

    Steve,
I really like all your wallpapers! I do have a 17″ screen so I prefer the
horizontal pics.. I do not like the black borders.. Used to be the pictures
would cover my whole screen..Not anymore though. Wish you would go back to those
    without borders…

I have a 21 inch monitor screen and I prefer a horizontal looking photo. But I have a program that can change it to a vertical look for my phone.

I much refer the horizontal image because it fills up the screen nicely. Is there a way the calendar could be made slightly larger?

  7. Lois A. Wilkinson says:

    I personally prefer the horizontal.
Now, while I have a chance to comment, I would like to say that I am a animal lover and love to look at animal pictures. The Snow Goose picture really captured my attention, I seldom put anything but wonderful pictures of wildlife as wallpaper. In facrt I am disappointed when there is no animal choice in any given month. But that is just me.
Thank you so much for making them available.

I definitely prefer the Horizontal. It’s great that you are taking a survey; that way everyone can have their say.

Can we have some wallpaper which is from other parts of the world, such as the Caribbean, South Pacific or Australia, where I’m from.

We’ve got good scenery out here too.

Thanks and regards for what you’ve been posting.

I prefer horizontal over vertical. I don’t really like the black borders.

I prefer the horizontal images. I use them on my desktop screen and the horizontal ones fill the screen nicely. I have a 1910 by 1080 screen, so wish they were even larger. However, I’ll take what you are able to put out there–beautiful pictures! Thanks so much!

Love all the scenery for my desktop but would also like some with flowers that depict the current seasons. Cheers up my day when I look at the computer.
